The Redgranite Correctional Institution (RCI) is a medium-security state prison located in central Wisconsin, United States. It was opened in 1995 and has a capacity to hold over 1050 adult male inmates. The facility is situated on a 148-acre piece of land and comprises multiple buildings, including various housing units, medical and educational facilities, a gymnasium, and an outdoor recreation area.
The RCI offers various programs and services to inmates, including vocational and educational training, substance abuse treatment, and mental health services. Inmates can also participate in religious and therapeutic activities to promote personal growth and rehabilitation.
The prison has a staff of more than 400 employees, including correctional officers, academic and vocational instructors, and healthcare providers. The facility has implemented numerous security measures to ensure safety, such as electronic key systems, security cameras, and perimeters equipped with fences, razor wire, and motion detectors.
Like every prison, the RCI has faced its share of challenges, including issues over inmate safety, overcrowding, and staff shortages. In general, the institution tries to maintain a balanced approach to security and rehabilitation, ensuring that inmates receive the resources and opportunities to improve their lives and reintegrate successfully into society.
